Meet Your Guide: Stephen Rock
USMC Veteran | Licensed NH Guide | Casting Instructor
Stephen Rock began fly fishing more than 30 years ago out of a desire to connect with nature. Now, he enjoys sharing his love for the sport by teaching and coaching others in this incredible hobby, helping them also reconnect with the natural world.
Founder's Story: A Lifelong Journey with Fly Fishing
I didn't become a guide just to catch fish; I became a guide because I know exactly how important it is to disconnect from the noise of the professional world.
From the Corps to the Stream
My journey started in the U.S. Marine Corps, where I learned that preparation, discipline, and situational awareness are the difference between a good day and a bad one. When you step into the river with me, you can trust that the details—safety, logistics, and planning—are handled with military precision.
From the Corporate World to the River
I bring over 30 years of experience in the professional sector to my guiding, having worked as a Project Manager, Software Business Analyst, and Scrum Master for major organizations like Fidelity and Southern New Hampshire University.
I come from your world. I understand the reality of tight deadlines, complex deliverables, and the constant demand for high performance. I also understand exactly how vital it is to step away from that grind. My background in project management ensures that your trip is planned and executed with professional rigor, but my goal is to help you fully unplug and reset in a way only another professional can understand.
A Lifelong Obsession
While building my career, one thing remained constant: my obsession with fly fishing. For over 30 years, I have explored New England’s waters, from the legendary Upper Dam pools of Maine to the striped bass flats of Cape Cod.
In 2005, I formalized that passion by becoming a Certified Casting Instructor through the Federation of Fly Fishers. I am a teacher at heart. Whether we are breaking down a complex cast or reading the water, my goal is to make sure you leave with more confidence and skill than when you arrived.
My Promise to You
When you book a trip with me, you aren't just hiring a guide; you are hiring a peer who understands the value of your time. I look forward to meeting you, swapping stories, and getting you on the water.
